Final Reflection:
Out of all the class projects we did this semester I enjoyed the wood-firing pieces along with our thrown set of bowls. But if I had to choose a piece I was most proud of that would have to be my set of bowls. This project impacted my learning because it made me further realize the amount of time and dedication that goes into making a set of something. Making pieces that are identical to each other is a difficult task and takes an extreme amount of detail, time, and determination. Also during this project, my trimming skills on the wheel have greatly improved.
One of the most informative projects we did this semester was probably our first throwing assignment with the cylinders. This project was difficult because it was my first time using a wheel and the goal was to make a cylinder that was four inches tall and for me, that was difficult to accomplish. After that project, I learned more about the wheel itself and different techniques to ensure good thrown pieces. The second most informative thing we did this semester was our raku project. I thoroughly enjoyed this project because it was using resources like going to Portland Pottery to learn more about different ways to fire clay.
The goals I set for myself at the beginning of this semester were to take more time to focus my mind on my artwork, and to make sure I remember to click the turn-in button on Google Classroom. Reflecting on this past semester I feel like I have accomplished both of these goals even with the injury I had on my hand I still managed to be thorough in my work and keep making pieces in class. Regarding the Google Classroom goal, I managed to keep track of my work better and turn in assignments on time.
