Purpose:
To demonstrate understanding of accurate perspective of cylinders and cubes;
To use a variety of mark-making strategies to practice and demonstrate the value changes on forms, helping them appear 3D
To practice using a variety of media to draw a still life
Hatching
Controlled Scribbling
Stippling
Cross-Hatching
Things that are working well are both the cross-hatching and the controlled scribbling. Marking out the light and shadow before going in with ink helps a lot to plan out values, as well as using eclipses for cans to make the proportions believable. Going in layer by layer helps make everything look even, as well as ensures that some parts don't get too dark. Thin lines or marks closer to light makes the overall value appear lighter, while thicker marks make the value seem darker.
I need to work on my eclipses and making sure they're drawn at the right angle, as well as making my lines as straight as possible in some places. I should work on stippling as well, and making darker marks. I struggle with inking things, and giving drawings really dark values, so I need to work on that. Finally, I should also be focusing more on making sure the perspective makes sense.
