"Peach" Acrylic on Matboard
I wanted to do a peach sitting on a napkin surrounded by a yellow-orange "halo" to emphasize it. I used acrylic paints so I would be able to create a bunch of different layers. I tried to add movement in the napkin by making it seem like the peach had just been dropped onto it, but I'm not sure if it translated as well as I wanted to. I also tried to make the napkin look "leaf-like" to relate back to the leaves on the peach. Overall I think it turned out okay.
"Pitcher and Spoon" Pen and Gel pen on Paper
7x10 in
I had a tough time with this assignment, specifically its permanence. I restarted the project five times and tried several techniques but eventually returned to cross-hatching. I think that my shading does show volume, but I wish I had done my cross-hatching to the shape of the plates and the pitcher. Overall it's okay, but I wish I had gone slower and more intentional in some parts so my curves wouldn't look so "wobbly".
