Personally, making art is my main form of self-expression, and it’s something I truly enjoy. Even if I’m not the greatest at it. It’s a great creative outlet and has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was little. Currently, I have less time to spend drawing, but it’s still a very important part of my life. Those are the main reasons that I create, although mainly the self-expression aspect of it.
I hope to improve on finding sources of inspiration, while also being able to sit down and create without having such high expectations for myself. I want to be able to just enjoy the process, without including the pressure of creating something perfect, which is something I struggle with a lot. Overall, I hope to improve my art and learn more about what goes into it, in the end, creating something that I’m proud of and passionate about. Those are my personal goals for Art Fundamentals this year, and I’m generally excited about this class and all that I’ll learn.
The assignment that I am the most proud of:
One of my proudest accomplishments is my Drawing in Space sculpture. I thought the project was very engaging and hands-on, which helped me improve my sculpture skills overall. Working on a 3D project was especially enjoyable, and it had a positive impact on my learning experience.
Honors:
I'm taking both Photography and Drawing and Painting my Sophomore year, and I'm planning on continuing with those classes, as well as Graphic Design and Ceramics. Some goals I have are being more proud of my creations, which is something I struggle with, as well as looking into further Art Education. To help with this I plan to take art classes over the summer as well.
Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester:
Two of the most important concepts I learned this semester were Light and Shadow and Perspective. These are important because having these skills can result in overall better quality art. Having a good understanding of light and shadow is crucial to giving art pieces depth, and using perspective helps to make your piece look put together.
