Create a sculpture that is an “Ode to Autumn” in honor of Autumn.
For my Ode to Autumn assignment, I created an outdoor performance venue that included a band with a lead singer, bassist, and drummer. I created stage lights using transparent yellow film and black paper, along with a crowd in front of the stage. On the back of the stage, I added a ticket, and I made the matchbox cover into a ticket “holder” and added a poster for my imaginary concert to the front, and added performances by various bands that I altered the names for. I stuck the tickets out of the top of the box for visual interest.
I made my finished piece by first building up the stage and adding the lights. Then I added the details that I knew would be easier. I did the more difficult things afterward because I knew that they would be easier to mess up while working. I created the poster and other project details, then glued them onto a flat surface so I could work on it without disturbing the piece.
All my materials worked how I wanted them to, and I even used red confetti that I got from the most recent concert I’ve been to, as a reference to an actual fall concert. I used a thin metal bar to make the stage feel more “industrial”. I think that next time I would be more careful with the glue, since I accidentally got some on the transparent “light” pieces, which made them look slightly dirty.
