SCRIBBLER CHANGES FORMAT FOR 2017-2018 SCHOOL YEAR

By The Scribbler Staff

The Wilson Area Intermediate School student newspaper, also known as The Scribbler, has made big changes for this school year. Starting on Wednesday, October 4, The Scribbler will post weekly articles about school events and happenings on our online newspaper. The newspaper staff will also be publishing a quarterly creative magazine, which will include all of our favorite features: movie and book reviews, puzzles, poems, creative writing, artwork, and comics.

The Scribbler advisor Mrs. Korin feels that this change will have many benefits. "When we only published the news every quarter, by the time you heard about an event, it might already be over," she explained, "Also, everyone on the staff always wanted to be the lucky reporter chosen to create comics, puzzles, and poems for each edition. This allows everyone to contribute both news and creative writing."

If you are interested in joining the staff of The Scribbler, have your parent complete a permission form (your homeroom teacher already distributed these) and show up for a meeting. The staff meets every Tuesday from 2:40-3:30 in room 707. If you prefer to just read about school news, remember to check this site every Wednesday throughout the school year!

The many clubs and activities available at Wilson Area Intermediate School have begun holding meetings for the 2017-2018 school year. These clubs provide students an awesome opportunity to interact with each other, make friends, and be entertained.

Some of the clubs and activities available at WAIS include: Drama Club, The Scribbler, French Club, Yearbook, National Junior Honor Society, Chorus, Band, Fit n' Fun, Student Council, Warrior Wake-Up News, and the Homework Club. Aiden H., a member of several of these organizations, is especially enthusiastic about the Drama Club. He says that participating in Drama makes him feel like he has something in common with his favorite movie actors.

If you are interested in getting involved here at the intermediate school, listen carefully to the morning announcements, and read all the flyers your homeroom teacher hands out. All of these organizations are seeking new members at the start of the school year. You could also try asking a friend or teacher to find out how to join these extra-curricular activities. You won't regret it!
