All rooms were prepared for your arrival and should be in good condition. When you arrive, you'll be asked to complete a damages form to make note of any damage to your room and furnishings. Please inspect your room carefully, and if you require any repairs or replacements (eg. lightbulbs) on arrival or throughout the year, please submit the request through Joblogic. It is your responsibility to leave your room in as good a condition as you found it, minus normal wear and tear.
If you require replacement cleaning supplies, paper goods (toilet paper, kitchen roll, etc.), or trash bags, please contact a Scout or a Night Porter.
Please do not put tape, blue tac, or nails in or on the walls. You may use picture hooks and frames for hanging up posters from the picture rail in your bedroom.
The cost of damage to any College building will be charged to those who caused it. If those who are directly responsible are not identified, the costs will be apportioned among the occupants of the damaged area, whether it's a bedroom, floor, or entire house. In all cases of wilful damage, those responsible are liable to disciplinary action on behalf of the Dean of the College.
Any damage, whether to an individual room or a common area, should be reported promptly. Repairs will be made and the appropriate person(s) billed directly. All bills must be paid within 10 days. Bills that are unpaid at the term’s end will be added to the student’s College term bill and will include an overdue surcharge.
It is your responsibility to keep your bedroom clean. Our Scouts will clean common spaces, kitchens, and bathrooms (assuming they are tidy and surfaces clear), but will not clean your bedroom throughout the term. Vacuum cleaners are kept in the stairwells of each house for you to use in your bedrooms. Please return them to the stairwell after use. Over term breaks, staff will enter your room to vacuum and clean surfaces. If you remain at EWH over term break, we will arrange a suitable time with you directly.
During vacations, staff will check your rooms for necessary repairs, carry out safety checks, and for cleaning. Staff may enter your room occasionally during term time for maintenance. You will always have notice unless it is an emergency (eg. urgent maintenance work required).
Please do not ask staff members to let you into a peer's room without evidence that you have that person's permission to enter.
