As a Visiting Student at Oxford University, you are not fully-matriculated, degree-reading students. You will, however, be issued a formal University Card. As the Oxford University Proctors’ and Assessor’s Memorandum states: ‘Although not formally members of the University, such students may be expected to observe the same rules and regulations as matriculated students.’
In short, while in Oxford, you will be expected to abide by most of the University’s academic regulations and rules pertaining to conduct and behaviour. In most instances these supersede Williams rules and regulations with respect to much of your academic work and, obviously, your use of University facilities. During Freshers' Week orientation activities at Exeter, you will receive a copy of the University Student Handbook. You should read this carefully as it contains the rules and regulations you will be expected to follow. You will also find it here: https://www.ox.ac.uk/students/academic/student-handbook
Students are bound by the Williams Honor Code while in Oxford. Any infractions that are brought to the attention of the Faculty Director by other students or by Oxford tutors will be dealt with accordingly and, when required, brought before the members of the Honor Committee at Williams. Should serious breaches of Oxford rules and regulations, as specified in the Oxford University Student Handbook, be reported, the Faculty Director, in consultation with the Dean of the College at Williams and the Sub-Rector and Senior Tutor at Exeter College, will determine whether or not the student will be subject to Oxford University regulations, Williams College regulations, or to some combination of both. Please note that disciplinary procedures at Exeter and Oxford are very different than at Williams.
