March 2021

Both are moods. (See below for a bit of information regarding my upcoming comic, Potentially Kinetic.)

So, I've been working on Potentially Kinetic as a story since seventh grade, and I am still so happy I had the realization that I'd be able to tell the story better through the form of a comic. Once I made the decision, I started sketching and planning with the goal to become comfortable with drawing in webcomic format (i.e. the long comic format you see on Webtoon and Tapas, etc.) and also to get comfortable with my own art style. And... that's when things got a bit tricky.

It's no secret that I love to experiment, and that started to make it hard to decide on something consistent for the comic. Even my sketches were starting to take new form, and I got stumped for a while and ended up taking a break from the story entirely to get let it sit. I came back to it after a few months and remembered how much I love the story, and so I decided to start with the basics to make things easier for myself.

I drew maps and building layouts to make backgrounds easier. I made character refs so I had all the colors and outfits stored in one place. I made a reference page for the colors of all the speech bubbles. I went back and respaced the comics that I had already drafted, which was a pain because I had already respaced them once before. But it was something I did out of sheer need to make this comfortable for me. I've been resketching a lot of the drafts to make it easier for me to finalize them. And I've been testing stylistic choices to ensure that I am using the most efficient and FUN methods. I want this to be fun for me so I don't drop the project out of exhaustion.

So, with all that said...

I'm shooting for publication within the next few months, hopefully by summer at the latest. Of course, if I need longer, I'll take longer. But as of now, that's the goal. I'm I'm looking forward to trying to reach it! And I hope everyone will have fun reading the comic. It's... a side to me as a creator that I don't think anyone has seen before.

If you read all that, I give you ten gold stars! Thank you for your support. It really means the world to me.
