So... What is a WIP?

If you're new to the artist world, you might be thinking to yourself, "What the heck is a W-I-P?" And first of all, it's okay to just pronounce it like "whip".

WIP stands for Work In Progress, meaning it's something that isn't done yet! It's still exactly that—a work in progress. This can pertain to pretty much anything, including art and writing.

But here's my question: When does it stop being a WIP and become just a W? (A work?) Or does it jump straight to being a finished work somehow? At what point is that? Can a WIP be the final piece? Those kind of questions are going to be my main exploration during this project.
