Coverage & Response Times
Officers are reminded to strategically spread out units to reduce response time and increase visibility in rural or often-overlooked areas like Paleto and Grapeseed.
Encourage self-initiated activity in these areas, not just call-driven.
Maintaining Professionalism On and Off Duty
Officers are required to maintain clear and respectful communication, especially in high-stress situations.
Officers should also remember that how they present themselves in public settings (and while streaming, if applicable) reflects on the department.
Taser Deployment and Medical Response Protocol
Per MFE Chain of Command: Officers are permitted to remove taser prongs if they do not land near the face, neck, head, or genitals.
Simple deployments with no visible injuries do not require EMS, but EMS can still be called at your discretion or if requested by the suspect.
Document prong removal when appropriate and follow safety procedures closely.
Pursuits
Supervisors have full authority over the number of units involved in pursuits.
They may terminate pursuits when safety, policy, or necessity dictates.
All personnel are expected to monitor radio traffic actively and comply with pursuit protocols—failure to do so may result in disciplinary review.
Checking in & Going On Patrol
Officers must check in with a Sergeant when starting and ending their shift—this helps maintain accountability and organize assignments.
Streaming or recording does not guarantee priority district placement; assignments are rotated to ensure fairness.
Follow the proper chain of command for assignment changes or concerns.
