Sergeant Entrance Program
We are pleased to announce that eligible Patrol Officer IIIs can now apply to the Sergeant Entrance Program to begin their status within the program early, prior to becoming a Senior Patrol Officer. It is important to note that those Patrol Officer IIIs will still be required to meet the requirements and expectations to promote to a Senior Patrol Officer during their time in the program, and will not be promoted directly from Patrol Officer III to Sergeant.
We're accepting applications for those interested in the program, and those who are, are encouraged to apply today!
Patrol Check In
Server 1: Use /vmsmanage to view officer distribution and position yourself in districts with fewer units.
Server 2: Check in with the on-duty supervisor to be assigned to a patrol area.
Notify the supervisor when you end your patrol so they can keep records updated.
If no supervisor is available, attempt to distribute yourself and fellow officers evenly across the Area of Patrol (AOP).
Professionalism on Patrol
All officers are reminded to act professionally and represent the department positively while on patrol. Remember that your actions reflect not only on yourself but also on the department as a whole.
Pursuit Policy
Officers found pursuing for non-pursuable reasons will face disciplinary action. Officers should not initiate a pursuit for anything and expect that a supervisor will approve or deny it, rather officers shall initiate pursuits appropriate to the guidelines for pursuable factors. Supervisors will still be responsible for terminating pursuits that go against guidelines or are deemed dangerous, or other factors as deemed necessary.
Key Reminder: It is your responsibility to know and follow the updated pursuit guidelines.
