Artist Statement:
For this assignment, we had to go out and take at least five portrait photos using the composition technique rule of thirds while making sure the photo's focus was on the person. You also could have one of those photos be of an animal, but I took all of mine of a person seeming how the animal I had was already in black and white. Next, after all of the photos had been taken, we were to upload them onto Photoshop and start working on the real focus of the assignment, which was to have selective colors. The class had to make the photos black and white, then choose some part or color in the image they would like to bring out. I found that clothing or accessories fit quite well with this. When taking the photos above, I was shooting for capturing the thing in color as the main subject even without the edits, that way one would not be too drawn to figuring out the background before they even focused on the main point. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment, the results that came from it are a whole lot better than I was expecting.
