Portfolio Review and Reflection:
1) Yes, I do feel like my experience in Photography I was successful. Why you might ask? I came in here the first day knowing close to nothing on the skill of photography, and now I am leaving knowing all about composition techniques I can apply to a photo and even how to take an old camera and produce a successful roll of film. I never thought that would end up being something I would learn, and I found it really fun!
2) I would say that the hardest thing for me to do in this class was learning how to roll film in the bag. The first day that it was introduced, I thought I was going to be one of those people who never really would be able to grasp it, but I proved myself wrong. Every time in class there was the option to practice rolling, I took it. Eventually, I could do a perfect roll with my eyes closed, and then was able to repeat that in the bag! It took some practice, but I got quite a good grasp of the skill.
3) When it comes to my favorite project, I would have to go with the contemporary photography project. It was really fun hopping from website to website, looking at all the different photographers and their work. My favorite part was when we had to go out and take photos inspired by the professionals. I mostly like this assignment the best because of the photos I took. They came out so much better than I thought they were going to. Finding things to take photos of was so much easier because of the inspiration. The plant photo is also arguably the smoothest looking one I have on here.
4) For my least favorite one on here, I quite despise the photo edits assignment. Sure, it was a great way to learn how the photo app worked, but the photos I used for it make me cringe, and so do the edits. I know now that I could take much better photos, and looking at the old ones definitely shows me how much I improved. Overall I just don't like what I have on that page.
5) It was impacted a great deal. I knew basically none of that going in. I now know what techniques I can apply to photos to add some depth or enhance what I am focusing on, and that lighting really helps to make a good photo. I also now appreciate professional photographers in a new way because now I understand what they look at and try to accomplish in a photo. It definitely took time for them to reach that level of skill and precision. I was able to learn that from this class because of when we had to go and be inspired by some of the work from a professional. The photos I took were not as stunning as theirs, and that made me realize it is not as easy as it looks.
