"Alright," Lyn said, raising her hands in a non-threatening manner. "Search me if you like. As I say, I've only come here to warn you."

Secant sized her up, not lowering her weapon. "Warn of what, exactly?"

"It's... well, I don't have details," Lyn said, realizing how little she actually knew. "But some specific functions were going to strike out against the parents here. '1 - cos(x)' was one of them."

An eyebrow went up. "'1 - cos(x)'? Really? It couldn't have been... say, '1 - sin(x-90)'? Or '1 - sin(x+270)', for that matter?"

"Oh, ah... I don't think so," Lyn replied. She frowned. "Wait, they'd look the same. We could simply stop anyone who looks like '1 - cos(x)'!"

Secant glared. "What a terribly racist remark," she said, lowering her weapon to cross her arms. "Just because a sine LOOKS like a cosine, you'd have us persecute her?"

"Oh!" Lyn flushed. "Well, no, it's just, ah... look, have there been any suspicious visitors here?"

"Aside from you?" Secant said pointedly. "No. In fact, no one else has been by, excepting the delivery man. He brought a small trophy."

"Well, what did that look like?" Lyn wondered.

"Tapering conical structure with an 'n' on top, made specifically for the Tangent Issue."

"Ah," the blonde parsed. "A TI 'n'-Spire."
