Maud began to wipe down the bar. "Regardless, I don't think Tangent's departure will be permanent," he concluded. "I mean, she's a button on the calculator."
Circe smirked. "Yeah, so's Gradient mode, you don't use much of that, do you?" she fired back. "Not to mention Tan has had a rental property, as Slope, outside the Angle Zone for a while now. No, I think Tangent will eventually fade into obscurity, the way Versine did."
"You almost sound pleased by that," Maud said, frowning.
"I have no love for trigonometry," Circe sniffed. "They're users. Taking my unit form of radius one and using it to define themselves. Using misleading notations in their names so you can't tell an inverse from a reciprocal. Not to mention blowing HOLES in my roof..."
"That was Quinn, not Tangent," Maud reminded.
Circe paused. "True. The Polys have always been worse," she yielded. "I mean, don't get me wrong, I have a good working relationship with Trig... but I'm not going to get upset if there's fewer of them around." She paused, to take a sip of her drink. "Plus - and maybe it's just me - but it freaks me out the way they enjoy waving at everybody."
