76-Cheap Shot

It took Lyn over an hour to make her way to Origin Central, by which time night had fallen. Fortunately, it wasn't hard to pinpoint the most official looking building there, what with it's poppy garden and copper green roof.
As Lyn got closer, she saw a woman standing by the front doors. It was a brunette in yellow, wearing a tie, whose her hair seemed to defy gravity - Lyn suspected hairspray. When the woman noticed the approach, she pulled out some sort of energy weapon.
"Halt!" she called out, even as Lyn now recognized the features, figuring this had to be Secant. "This hall is closed for a private set of functions!"
"I know," Lyn said, catching her breath. "I'm here to warn you all, there may be some sort of attack."
Secant peered closer. "You're not Trig. Who are you?"
"Lyn. Well, Linear," the line amended. "See, I came here looking for Cotangent, but then..."
"I said halt!" Secant repeated, pointing her weapon directly at Lyn as the blonde took another step forwards.
Lyn froze. "What is that gun exactly?" she said uncertainly.
"A phaser." As Lyn still looked confused, Secant elaborated. "It's designed to stun someone by causing a phase shift."
