Before I write a detailed assignment on the Gwangju Biennale, I will introduce some impressive works through this exhibition.
Above right works are works which show the reality of Japan being hidden after the Great East Japan Earthquake.
After the Great East Japan Earthquake, I had an critical idea that Koreans has been traveling to Japan without a security check.
Looking at this work, I was sure I wasn't wrong.
The artist communicates with audiences who visit and see the works every day since the opening of the Gwangju Biennale, according to the
docent.
I was very impressed by the artist's attitude.
Luckily, I was able to talk to the artist on that day, and he told me that it was strange for many Koreans to travel to Japan.
I was surprised to know that the artist had the same thoughts as me.
Anyway, I think that trying to communicate with the public is really the attitude that modern art should pursue.
Lastly, I would like to express my respect to the artist who tried to tell the truth even under the circumstances of the Japanese government's
pressure.
Characteristic of left work is similar to that of the above.
The artist wanted to lay China government's censorship of the Internet open.
According to the docent, When broadcasting workers from Japan and China visited,
The former was interested in this work. But, the latter was embarrassed and displeased in
this work. And the shockingly, the artist has fled to a third country because of the Chinese
government's threat.
As above, There is a longing for truth in Gwangju Biennale. But, There were some exhibits I couldn't agree with.
All works with the theme of accepting refugees are incomprehensible.
Because, as we see in the case of Europe, there is more damage than gain by accepting refugees.
I think An emotional appeal to accept refugees is a selfish idea that does not take into account the living conditions of the people in the
country.
