How does the exhibition deal with gender?

I think they don’t try much for gender issue. The Gwangju Biennale 2018 was organized with seven themes by 11 curators, as there were no Gendor issues in dealing with global important issues such as refugees and race. Half of people. Half of the Earth women, and feminism has also been the hottest issue in Korea. I want to see gender theme in next Gwangju Biennale .

How many female/male executives?

The board of directors includes three women and eight men. Unexpectedly, the CEO was a woman. Of course, the ratio is not same, but it is a big improvement in Korea

How many female/male curators?

6 female and 5 male curators. I hope there will be more female curators in the future.

Is there a difference between how male/female artist work, display their projects etc?

Yes, of cause. Female artist has more diversity of materials than male artist. Because women have been discriminated against. I couldn’t saw all of exhibition because of my weak ankles, but i catch some uncomfortable spots by gender sight. The default of the world is men. But to women, default is women. That brings abalones.

I like Martin sims’s artwork. Because she was black and also female, she can make the work like that.
