A retrospective of Bach Yiso
I liked how the show was curated and the exhibition really helped me understand the artist in a diverse way. Prior to seeing it, I only knew a couple of his works, and after seeing the whole exhibition, I was ashamed that I didn't know better beforehand. I think that he is a very important artist in Korean art and his works are still very relevant today.
KIM Heecheon <Lifting Barbells>
This work is from a young Korean artist and I really liked it. This was a video work that was done in a manner of a letter to a lover. I think the artist has some connection with Argentina, so the voice in the video speaks Spanish, which to me, felt like an important part of the experience. There are four letters sent to the lover and through the letter, he talks about Seoul, mega-cities, and the death of his father. Through the death of his father, the artist talks about virtuality and reality. He tracks down the last days of his father with a smart watch his father was wearing before he died. The video is also a mixture of 3D computer graphics and real footages of Seoul.
