예술과 기술의 실험 E.A.T
E.A.T(Experiment in Art and Technology)는 1960년대에 벨 연구소의 엔지니어, 빌뤼 클루버, 프레드 발트하우어와 예술가 로버트 라우센버그, 로버트 휘트먼등이 결성한 비영리 단체로 미술, 무용, 영화, 과학기술, 더 나아가 산업 영역까지 다양한 분야의 협업과 교류를 선도햤다. 한국에 처음 소개되는 이번 저시는 예술과 과학기술의 접목을 통해 예술적, 창의 적인 표현의 새로운 장을 개척한 E.A.T. 의 지난 활동과 작품들을 다양한 관점애서 조명한다. E.A.T. 의 아카이브 자료를 대거 포함하며, 협업으로 완성된 현대 미술의 거장들의 작품도 함께 소개되었다.
The E.A.T. is non-profit organization in the 1960s by the Bell Labs engineers, Billy Kluver, Fred Waldhauer and other artists including Robert Rauschenberg and Robert Whitman. It started off as a pioneering group to promote collaborations and communication in a variety of areas, all from the equal stance, ranging from art and technology to cinema, once, and even industry. Introduced for the first time in Korea, the exhibition on the history of E.A.T. adopts different perspectives as hit explores the activities and works which embarked on a new chapter for artistic and creative expressions with its interactions between art and technology. It will include numerous archval materials related to the E.A.T. along with the collaborative artworks works by the many who became masters of contemporary art today
나는 이미 이 전시를 지난 여름방학때 왔었다. 그리고 이번이 두번째이다. 이 전시에서 가장 좋았던 것은 앤디워홀의 은빛구름이다. 앤디 워홀은 공학자 빌리 클뤼버와 ‘은빛 구름’(1966)을 만들었다. 떠다니는 전구를 상상한 앤디 워홀은 공학자 빌리 크뤼버의 기술적 조언을 받아 가볍지만 공기를 완벽히 밀폐시키는 군용 샌드위치 포장재에 헬륨가스를 넣어 ‘은빛 구름’을 완성했다. 이 작품은 유희 공간으로 변신할 수 있으며 그런 의미에서 예술의 권위와 관습을 깬 시도로 평가받는다. ‘은빛 구름’은 국립현대미술관 서울관 한켠에 자리 잡았다.
I already came to this exhibition last summer vacation. And this is the second time. The best thing about the exhibition was Andy Warhol's silver cloud. Andy Warhol created engineers Billy Clover and the silver cloud (1966). Imagining floating light bulbs, Andy Warhol received technical advice from engineer Billy Cruber to complete the silver cloud by putting helium gas in a lightweight but completely sealed the air. This work can be transformed into a space of entertainment and is considered an attempt to break the authority and customs of art. The silver cloud is located at the Seoul Museum of Contemporary Art.
One of the most interesting of these is the color of silver clouds, the color of silver clouds is associated with gray, or dark clouds. Dark clouds are caused by cloudy weather and can also indicate depression. However, by expressing gray as silver, it seems to be used as a double-edged beauty.It is curious that the author can express even a minor emotion of his time.
