Saisha's interest in art, dance, Indian mythology and music is closely intertwined. Her introduction and inspiration with Madhubani Art form began when she was in Grade 6, watching her sister and some close friends, who were already Deepti's student's. Of course, the beautiful and intricate projects that resulted was the absolute hook. She soon enrolled, and it's hands down one of her (and her family's!) favorite ways to wind down a busy week. The meditative nature of Madhubani brings a lot of joy & contentment, and Saisha looks forward to her continued learning as an artist and has goals of taking on more complex projects in the days to come!
An avid Amar Chitra Katha reader, Saisha often draws inspiration from her keen interest in Indian dance, arts & Hindu mythology. Varuna is considered the god of oceans, water, and cosmic order. Fishes hold deep symbolic significance in his domain—they represent life, abundance, and the sustaining power of water. As aquatic creatures, they are seen as messengers of Varuna, moving freely through his vast realm and embodying the fluidity and mystery of the divine. In many traditional art forms, including Madhubani, fish motifs are used to invoke blessings of fertility, prosperity, and protection, aligning with Varuna’s role as a guardian of natural balance and moral law. This artwork, titled Varuna's Messenger, is a vibrant and intricate piece inspired by the Madhubani art featuring stylized fish, richly adorned with geometric and floral patterns in vivid hues of red, orange, green, and blue.
