Grade 5
I have been learning Madhubani art since 2022 with Deepti Designs. My teachers are Vrinda Rathi and Mrs. Deepti . When I started I had no idea what this art form was, but I tried it out, and I really liked it! Ever since then, I've always looked for opportunities to show my artwork to everyone. I've always loved art and it is my passion. At the end of my project I feel calm and happy.
Mayura Narthana means "Peacock's dance". The peacock symbolizes beauty, love, wisdom, immortality, and prosperity. It is the vehicle for deities such as Kama (love), Lakshmi (prosperity), Brahma (creation), Kartikeya (war), and Saraswati (wisdom), and Krishna is often depicted with a peacock feather in his crown . I chose the peacock in the center as there are a lot of peacocks at my grandparents place in India. So making this project helped me to connect more to my roots and culture. My favorite part is the borders of the mandala. Hardest part of this project was getting everything to be straight and symmetrical. The peacocks surrounding are spectators, and the birds inside are part of the dance.
