The style of Madhubani painting is beyond intricate, each line and pattern formed from well thought out and planned designing from the artist. Aside from the end result of each painting, I personally greatly enjoy the process. Starting from a blank canvas and spilling all of my own original ideas and thoughts onto it is an unmatched experience that I am glad I discovered five years ago. Behind each Madhubani piece is a story of the one who created it, mixed up with other parts of culture and reality, enabling us to keep a piece of our Indian heritage with us though we are so far way.
This painting depicts a typical Indian village in the mountains- with a little flair. There are many aspects of this painting that are standard characteristics of villages in rural India. The animals roaming freely, the woman carrying water in a pot on her head down a rocky road, and the greenery of the trees. However, the geometric patterns, colors, and intricate designs used emphasize the beauty of living in these mountainous villages. The combination of all these elements has been put together to reflect the charm in the balance between people and their environment in rural culture.
