My journey into the world of Madhubani art began four years ago under the mentorship of Ms. Deepti Agrawal. I am drawn to the intricate designs, vibrant colors, and rich cultural heritage embedded within this art form and have developed a deeper understanding of Indian mythology and a stronger connection to my cultural roots and identity.
In this painting Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, sits in calm grace against the soft blue of infinity. This beautiful painting holds a tale of transformation.
Goddess Parvati shaped Ganesha from sandalwood paste and breathed life into him. She set him to guard her chambers and when Lord Shiva, unaware, tried to enter, the young boy stopped him. Angered, Shiva struck him down and Parvati’s sorrow shook the heavens, To restore peace, Lord Shiva promised life again and thus he placed upon the boy the head of a gentle elephant, blessing him as Ganesha, the remover of obstacles.
This painting reflects that moment of transformation, one of serenity born out of trial and that of wisdom rising from conflict.
