Grade 1
I have always loved doodling, but my true interest in Madhubani art began when I saw my sister practicing it. Watching her work on intricate designs sparked my curiosity, and I soon found myself drawn to this beautiful art form. As I embark on this creative journey, I am eager to learn and grow by exploring various Madhubani techniques under the guidance of Ms. Deepti Agrawal and Ms. Prisha. Their expertise and mentorship inspire me to deepen my understanding of the art and refine my skills, and I look forward to discovering more about this rich tradition with their support.
This was my first Madhubani project from the senior course where I got to learn a lot of different techniques and used paints.
I chose to draw a part sun-part moon painting instead, because I wanted to represent something unique. I named my painting The Dawn. Dawn is the time when the moon has set and the sun is about to rise. It represents new beginnings, just like this project representing new beginnings for my art. Both Sun and Moon are important forces of nature, which play an important part in hindu mythology. While the day begins with praying to sun god, lot of the hindu festivals include praying to moon god.
I learnt to be patiently able to complete a longer project, while still being very creative and including both warm and cool colors.
It was a rewarding challenge that taught me the balance between precision and broader applications, laying the foundation for my future work in Madhubani art.
