Parish mission Statement:
We, the people of Saint John, are a multi-ethnic Roman Catholic parish formed from the union of the Church of Resurrection, Fontana and St. Thomas More, Rialto. We seek to nourish the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all the families and people, so that they can rejoice in the love of God in this life and in the life to come. We endeavor to do this by fostering: an authentic Christian Stewardship, the Christian education of our youth and adults through Resurrection Academy and other programs, outreach to the poor and needy, and the celebration of the Sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.
Religious Education
From the Office of
Catechetical Ministry
Dear Parents from the Community of Saint John XXIII:
Welcome to the new Catechetical year. Thank you for acknowledging your matrimonial promise along with your baptismal promise to raise your child in the formation of Catholic faith. It is a blessing for us as an entire community to endeavor to serve you.
In this journey of faith through formation, it is the objective of the Religious Education ministry to work together with the families in the formation of each person.
Remembering that as parents you are the first catechist of your children, therefore I remind you, that the best Catechesis program is in the home. This includes the Parents openly demonstrating to their children the practice of the faith both in the church but also in the world..
Thank you for the dedication, time, and attention you will be giving to your children. They will be forming their conscience to be children of God, disciples, and apostles of Jesus. And may God reward you for all that you do for your children to be good Christians and excellent citizens.
FAITH FORMATION:
The work of the Catechist is to assist the parents with each person’s faith formation to allow them to become disciples of Christ. The catechist can provide direction and resources, but it is the parents who must afford the time in the child’s daily life to learn what is being taught. The Parents are the primary educators of their children.
