OCIC Confirmation
OCIC/RCIC High School program for Holy Communion and Confirmation.
Those youth who are in the OCIC/RCIC High School program for Holy Communion may participate in an optional curriculum in order for them to receive the the sacrament of Confirmation.
While attending for catechism is the right for all the baptized. However learning what the sacraments are about and why they are important for the christian life-style exemplifies a person who wants to draw nearer to Jesus Christ. A demonstration of maturity during their catechetical process exudes a degree of a person's serioisness about their faith. Without which not all sacraments may be given. Remember God offers these sacraments in all seriousness. They should not be viewed as a rite of passage or as part of some "catholic" check list. God will not ask if you received the sacraments but whether or not you lived them to the fullest.
The curriculum offered through OCIC/RCIC for all the sacraments and optionally for confirmation demonstrates the essence of the "OCIA" dictum as given by the church. Therefore any OCIC student of high school age who demonstrates a maurity and yearning to live all three sacraments of initiation will be considered for readines to receive the sacrament of confirmation.
What must "I" the student do?
1.) Attend all classes and sessions per the agreement.
2.) Attend mass as a faithful Catholic.
3.) Participate in all the sessions.
4.) Attend all of the prescribed retreats and rites.
In addition to knowing the prayers, the OCIC curriculum and about the other sacraments of initiation, you must also know the following:
Be able to give an explanation of the three theological virtues?
Be able to give and explain what are the cardinal virtues?
