Religious Education>>  Parents >> Information Package>> Attendance

ATTENDANCE:

Attend Mass: All practicing Catholics and those seeking the sacraments, are obligated through the covenant of Jesus Christ to attend weekly Sunday Mass. Through the teaching coming from the Apostles, together, as families dedicated to the Lord, we must come to worship and give thanks to Him as well as support the parish spiritually and financially.

Attend Classes: All need to be on time for classroom instruction sessions. The sessions start at 6:30 PM and end at 7:30 PM. We will only allow students to be late within 5 minutes from the beginning of class. After that, the student will be considered tardy. 3 tardies will count as one absence and only 3 excused absences are allowed.

When a student/candidate does not attend the prescribed rites, this is also considered an unexcused absence.

A) Absence due to illness, is considered excused. Notify the Catechist and the Religious Education Office for the excuse to be recorded in attendance.

B) Everybody needs to be signed out at the end of each session.

C) Only authorized people over 18 years of age will be able to pick up your child.

D) In case of a natural disaster (Earthquake, Fire, etc.), only authorized people will be able to pick up your child.

MASS ATTENDANCE:

Catechesis (Instruction in the faith) and the obligation to attend Mass go hand in hand. Your child together with their family are to attend Mass every Sunday and the days of obligation.

For Mass Attendance:

Keeping the Lord’s Day as given by God in the Third commandment, makes attendance at Mass on Sundays a must. Student attendance will be tracked on the first Sunday following their First day of attendance in class. There will be a box in the church at the EAST side door next to the statue of the Blessed Virgen Mary. After Mass is concluded, (Priest is out of the Church) place the attendance envelope in the mass Attendance box with the following information:

Last Name, Name, Classroom Number, Session Day, Mass Date

Do Not place attendance slips in the Offertory Collection Basket.
