Many tribes roam the Badlands, competing to rule it. Weather that be through violence or diplomacy, that's up to the tribes.
(But, spoiler alert: it's usually through violence...)
Cacti
The Cacti are the Badlands' trademark tribe. The Badlands were once overran with cacti (the plant), but then the tribe of the same name harvested all of it, creating weapons, furniture and themed helmets. The remainder, they farmed and domesticated. Now the only way to get your hands on cactus is through this tribe. The cacti despise technology, they think it led to the NANI (North American Nuclear Incident). So, they destroy technology on sight. Unless it's a robot, in which case they make it fight in what they call "The Pit".
Equipment: They are generally equipped with their thematic helmets, a poncho and a handy spear. Spears are their tool of choice, training their young to use them at the age of 6.
Coyotes
The coyote tribe is said to be one of the most aggressive in all of the badlands. Most of the time, they are outside hunting and fighting over who gets the best meat. When they are not fighting over meat, they are fighting over something else. Pretty much all these dogs do all day is fight each other. Often times, the coyotes ends up getting into wars with other neighboring tribes and end up winning, because of their over-aggression. Tattoos cover their body to signify memories of those who have left them. At birth, coyote pups have their arms cut so that they are marked accordingly as officialy apart of the tribe. By the time they are three months old, they begin training and learning to hunt. Then when they are one year old, they become great warriors capable of killing anything that gets in their way.
Equipment: All they really need are daggers. But whenever they lose their daggers they resort to tooth and claw.
Serious Business Men
The Serious Business Men can barely be called a tribe. The tribe consists mostly of people banished from CoD or those from CoD looking for a better life somewhere else. Because of this, they still have a taste of society and have a strict no violence policy. This usually doesn't end well for them. However, someone up above most like them, because they seem to be the luckiest tribe, well, apart from them always being raided. The best fighters of the Serious Business Men typically leave the tribe for a more successful one.
Equipment: The Serious Business Men usually wear torn suits from their day jobs back in CoD. For weapons, it's usually not much, a briefcase or a sharp stick at the most. However, rumor has it they have a stash of fire arms in one of their camps.
Greenies
Greenies, obviously named for their bright green shirts, are probably the smartest tribe in the Badlands. Most members are descendants of pre-NANI scientists, so being smart sort of runs in there families. They are scavengers who never throw anything out, keeping junk to trade with other tribes. Most tribes don't mess with them (Well, except for the Coyotes...) because their trade rule; "if you attack us, you don't get any of our stuff." Their camps are more like fortresses, large wooden boxes with scrappy turrets set atop them. So raids very rarely occur. Their scouts/merchants however, usually get bodied pretty badly by Coyotes though.
Equipment: They wear their iconic green shirts to contrast the sand. This way people don't attack them thinking they're a different tribe. They don't like using melee weapons, preferring ranged weapons whenever possible, usually crossbows.
True Dusters
This tribe is insanely religious, believing heavily in the Law of Dust. They are normally peaceful and reserved. That is, until they're attacked or insulted. In which case they are incredibly aggressive. True dusters also have a very unique appearance. Their heads are shaven as they believe hair is reserved only for the goddess herself. They also normally have glazed over eyes, this is because their eyes are badly damaged from to much staring at the sun. They once sent a scout out, searching for any possible example of the goddess, possibly in a different form. He has yet to return. They particularly don't like Skyrians, they think the sky is a place for gods, not humans.
Equipment: They normally wear their cloaks which are covered in suns. Underneath, don't be surprised to find a dagger or two. They would like you believe they don't like using them, but that's false. They love violence.
Skyrians
Skyrians are a complete mystery. This tribe is a strange one, because for one thing, they always wear hoods to cover their faces. No one knows who they are behind those hoods, but some theorize that they're humans. They also invented wings that can make them soar through the skies. This tribe in particular is very uncomfortable on the ground, that's why they built their homes in the clouds (Don't ask me how they did it). They can often be seen soaring across the badlands. Occasionally, they'll drop bombs on enemy bases, but they're not very a violent tribe, so they only do that if absolutely necessary. All in all, they just travel a lot. They're on the move more often than any other tribe is.
Equipment: They always wear hoods to cover their faces, and they have their wings so they can fly. Also, they have a cape, but that's only because it looks cool.
Lads of Wastes
The Lads of Wastes, an obvious play on the Lads of Ire, is a tribe which consists solely of lads, of course led by Mr.Taco. These lads left or were banished from either CoD or the Carlos Woods. This tribe has the most knowledge and experience with the badlands. This is because Lads can't die of natural causes. So while they might not be the oldest tribe, most members have plenty of first hand experience. This tribe is also fairly powerful again due to how Lads are all so unique, having various powers and such. All these factors combined, the Lads of Wastes is the most flexible of the tribes.
(PS, the picture isn't 100% accurate since the tribe's composed of Lads, all Lads are vastly different.)
Equipment: Equipment varies greatly due to how Lads vary so wildly. It would be impossible to pin point exactly what they use.
Cat Club
It's been a long time since the dogs left the Ancient Chasm to live in New Yorkie, and now the cats were all alone, surrounded by the toxic nuclear lads. But they had no choice, they had to stay. It was too dangerous to leave the chasm. However, some of the cats did manage to escape. Those cats that made it out left for the badlands to form their own tribe, the Cat Club.
The Cat Club is one of the smallest tribes. Mostly because only a few cats escaped the chasm to form it. They started off small, but because of their intelligence, managed to become by far the most advanced tribe in the badlands. Basically, they're tribe is like a giant night club where they always party, hence the name. They gained an obsession for music, so they built instruments like keytars that they play for fun. Also, they're extremely vicious towards lads. They never let any in their tribe. The only exception is Syntho, who they need to help them make keytars.
Equipment: They wear clothes that humans wore pre NANI, and they build keytars to play with. Surprisingly enough, those instruments can be used as weapons too. (They shoot lasers).
Catalysts (Get it?)
What were once a bunch of lonely, cat-obsessed people pre-NANI had slowly became a tribe of violent brutes after hundreds, if not thousands, of years. The entirety of this tribe believes rather heavily in Mafism. Mafez himself doesn't particularly care for/about this tribe. However, he has occasionally tried to utilize them, but, unfortunately for him, they usually don't understand his request, end up overthinking them and eventually do something completely different.
Their pretty aggressive, but are sworn to never harm the Cat Club. Heck, they occasionally send out scouts just to stalk the Cat Club. They really like cats.
Equipment: They use a wide range of weapons, but they're all heavy, melee weapons: axes, hammers, maces, ect. for clothing, they typically wear just whatever with armor such as shoulder, knee or elbow pads. And spikes. They like spikes.
