Creer is “to believe” but sometimes it overlaps with “to think”.

To have faith in something:

• Yo creo en Dios.

(I believe in god)

• Yo no creo en fantasmas.

(I don’t believe in ghosts)

To guess/To suppose: (an idea you’re familiar with but not a 100% sure)

• Yo creo que ella tiene 30 años.

(I think she’s 30 years old)

• Yo creo que Juan vive en Florida.

(I think Juan lives in Florida)

• Yo creo que va a llover mañana.

(I think is going to rain tomorrow)

Frases with creer:

• Yo creo que sí.

(I think so)

• Yo creo que no.

(I don’t think so)

Pensar is "to think" but it has other meanings as well.

Opinions:

(what do you think about Shakira’s new song?)

• ¿Qué piensas? ¿es una buena idea? ¿ Te gusta?

(What do you think? Is it a good idea? Do you like it?)

To have something or someone in mind:

• Estoy pensando en ella. La extraño.

(I’m thinking about her. I miss her)

• Estoy pensando en esos días cuando solíamos ir al parque.

(I’m thinking about those days when we used to go to the park)

To reflect:

• Bueno, no tienes que responder ahora. Solo piensalo.
  (Well, you don’t need to answer now. Just think about it)

To intend/to plan:

• Estoy pensando en comprar un auto nuevo.

(I’m thinking about buying a new car)

• Nunca pensé en herirte.

(I never intended to hurt you)

Prepositions:

When you want to express faith, use en:

• Yo no creo EN Dios.

(I don’t believe in god)

When you want to express your thoughts, use “en”:

• Yo estoy pensando EN el día que nos casamos.

(I’m thinking about the day we got married.)
