There may be times when you need to take time out for public duties, such as jury service, to act as a witness in court or because you are a member of the territorial army.
Please complete the Jury Service Notification Form and provide a copy of the court summons. Your manager will receive a copy of this form and will be able to reallocate your workload and payroll will be able to certify your loss of earnings form.
Jury service doesn't normally last longer than 10 days and you'll then be exempt for 2 years.
The court will give you a Certificate of Loss of Earnings or Benefit for payroll to certify. You need to make sure you claim the correct daily allowance and number of days, as its your responsibility to make sure the court reimburse you - we can't correct this through your wages.
If you aren't required in court for a full or half day, please let your manager know as soon as possible - you may be asked to return to work if this is practical.
You can apply to be excused if your absence would cause substantial injury to our undertakings. Please speak with your manager, who will ask head office to provide you with a letter outlining the relevant reasons you should be excused. You'll usually only be granted one request to be excused.
Let your manager know as soon as possible. You may be able to claim for loss of earnings and the court will give you the appropriate form - we can then verify your loss of earnings to allow you to claim. It's your responsibility to do this, as we can't correct payments through your wage.
You need to apply for leave via your manager and explain that you are a member of the Territorial Army and need time off to fulfil your duties. We aren't under any obligation to allow this leave, but we won't unnecessarily withhold permission. Where we do allow time off, you may be able to use some holiday or take unpaid leave.
If you get called up for Jury Service, please notify us using this form - your manager will then be able to cover your workload and payroll will be able to certify your loss of earnings form.
