Where opportunities for promotion arise, we want to make sure we're fair in our selection of the most suitable person in terms of experience, abilities and qualifications.
We advertise all job opportunities internally on our website and our newsletter. Your manager or area manager may also identify that you are suitable for promotion through the use of our Career Pathway Framework.
We'll discuss your promotion prospects with you and then write to you to confirm your appointment, including the date you will start, information relating to any probation period and any other agreed changes (such as pay, hours, etc.). A promotion may not always result in a salary increase and this will be discussed with you at the time.
That depends. Where you've been promoted through our Career Pathways Framework, you won't usually be asked to complete a probation period as your suitability for the role will already have been assessed.
However, if you're changing roles altogether, we'll usually give you a 3 month probation period, during which time we'll assess your suitability for your new role. We may decide to extend your probation if needed.
If we decide you are unsuitable or incapable in your new role, we may demote you back to your previous role (if there's still a job there) and your terms and conditions will revert back to their pre-promotion level.
