GOOD FRIDAY OF THE LORD’S PASSION

10 April 2020

[John 18: 1-19, 42]

Good Friday is the second day of the Easter Triduum. It is a continuation from the Maundy Thursday liturgy.

Good Friday is a day of fast and abstinence in commemoration of the Passion and Death of our Lord Jesus.

“No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends.” [John 15: 13] Out of love for us sinners, Jesus humbled Himself, and, in obedience, accepted death, even death on the cross.

“He was pierced through for our faults, crushed for our sins. On him lies a punishment that brings us peace, and through his wounds we are healed.” [Isaiah 53: 5]

If our Lord and Master suffers, so must we the servants. If we die with Him, we will rise with Him. Let us meditate on Jesus’ pain and suffering, and walk with Him faithfully to Calvary.
