3^RD SUNDAY OF EASTER

[Luke 24: 13-35]

This Sunday’s Gospel recalls the Road to Emmaus taken by two of Jesus’ disciples.

After Jesus’ death, the two were leaving Jerusalem, feeling disappointed, depressed and defeated. Jesus appeared to them on the way, but they recognized him not.

1) Jesus first explained the Scriptures to them ­(Liturgy of the Word at Mass).

2) Then at the Breaking of the Bread (Liturgy of the Eucharist at Mass), their eyes were opened and they recognized the Lord.

At every Mass, it is truly Jesus who explains the Scriptures to us and feeds us with His Body and His Blood.

May we appreciate the Mass all the more during this MCO lockdown.

Let our prayer be,

“Lord Jesus, explain the Scriptures to us.

Make our hearts burn within us as you talk to us.”
