Garbage Disposal Don’ts


I have mentioned above the things that you can do to help your garbage disposal last longer. In this section, I am going to talk about the things you should not do.


1. Do not turn off your garbage disposal and water while it is still grinding. Wait until the grinding has finished before turning it off. Turn off the garbage disposal first and wait for about 15 seconds before turning off the water.


2. Do not use any harsh chemicals on your garbage disposal. Bleach and drain cleaners are harsh.


3. Do not feed your garbage disposal with things that can cause clogging, like eggshells and coffee grounds. Also, avoid foods that expand when added with water, like pasta and rice.
