Kohlenklau's Luft rechnung: The air calculation of the coal thief
An article in a document published in Germany during WW2 includes an illustration of a 'coal thief' and a message encouraging people to save coal by checking doors, tiled walls and chimneys for air leaks to prevent as much coal as possible from being wasted.
It is interesting to note that the article compares the amount of coal wasted in Germany at the time with the number of hours of work lost to coal miners, and then converts this into the number of hours of work lost to tank production.
The illustration of a Tiger I tank in the article, it was written after the end of August 1942, I think.

WW2のドイツで発行された文書の記事には、Kohlenklau [石炭泥棒] のイラストが描かれ、「石炭をできるだけ無駄にしないよう、空気の漏れが無いかをドア、タイル壁、煙突をしっかり点検しましょう」という石炭の節約を訴えるメッセージが書かれている。
当時のドイツ国内でどれだけ石炭が無駄に燃焼されていたかの数値と、無駄になった石炭の鉱夫労働時間を戦車の生産にかかる労働時間に比較して換算をしている点が興味深い。
戦車生産の1例でTiger Iのイラストが描かれているため、この記事は1942年8月末以降のものと想定する。

Frage: 1. Wie viele Bergmannarbeitsstunden werden im Monat durch ,,Nebenluft" der 30 Millionen versaubeutelt, wenn ein Bergmann in 8 Std. 1600 kg Kohle. fördert?
2. Wie viele Panzer könnten in dieser Zeit gebaut werden, wenn in einem Panzer 12000 Arbeitsstunden stecken?

There are at least 30 million stoves and ovens in Germany that consume 0.8 kg of coal too much per day due to air leakage caused by leaking doors, tiles and flue pipes.

Question: 1) How many miners' working hours are lost in a month due to the air leakage of the 30 million miners, if a miner produces 1,600 kg of coal in 8 hours?
How many tanks could be built in this time if 12,000 man-hours were put into one tank?
SOLUTION: 3 600 000 WORKING HOURS, 300 TANKS!

彼の儲けは？
質問：
1）1人の鉱夫が8時間で1,600kgの石炭を生産する場合、3,000万台の「空気漏れ」によって1ヶ月の鉱夫の労働時間はどれだけ無駄になるか？
2）1台の戦車に12,000人の工数をかけた場合、この時間で何台の戦車を作れるか？
回答：
1) 3,600,000労働時間、2) 戦車300台!
というわけで、今日、あらゆる場所の「空気漏れ」を止めよう!
