Requires: Chef's Tools Proficiency
During your downtime you can prepare consumable food items that grant bonuses and boons to those that would partake in them.
For 2 DT you can perform the Cooking DT activity. To start a new meal, you must choose one Base, but you can use as many additional Ingredients as you desire as long as your Meal’s combined ingredients does not surpass a combined ingredient tier value (including the tier of the Base) of 12. You determine the Stars of the meal by dividing the total ingredient tier value by 3, rounding down. Depending on the stars of the meal, you grant a base bonus, listed below, to those who would partake in it, including your Base Ingredient bonus and some Ingredient Bonuses (depending on how many stars the meal has) granted by the ingredients you used to prepare the meal. You can feed a number of creatures equal to your proficiency bonus with a meal. All benefits of your meal last until the consumer finishes a short rest.
1 Star Meal: Grants 1d10 + your Constitution modifier temporary hit points. You can add up to 2 additional Ingredient bonuses to the dish.
2 Star Meal: Grants an extra 3d10 + your Constitution modifier temporary hit points. You can add up to 4 Ingredient bonuses to the dish.
3 Star Meal: Grants an extra 5d10 + your Constitution modifier temporary hit points. You can add up to 6 Ingredient bonuses to the dish.
4 Star Meal: Grants an extra 7d10 + your Constitution modifier temporary hit points. You can add up to 8 Ingredient bonuses to the dish.
Just having the right amount of ingredients is not enough to successfully cook a high tier meal. When cooking, you must make a successful skill check using your Cooking Tool proficiency. A failed check results in a lower Star meal. If it goes below 1, the meal is a failure, and becomes known as a Dubious Dish, granting no benefits and inflicting ranks of Poisoned equal to the attempted tier of the meal. The DC for creating a successful meal is listed below, in addition to the subtractions to the Star total on failures. Rolling a Natural 20 on your Chef’s Tools check is an automatic success for the tier you are attempting to cook.
1 Star - 9 or Lower = Failure | 10 or Higher = Success
2 Star - 15 or Lower = Failure | 16 - 18 = 1 Star | 19 or Higher = Success
3 Star - 20 or Lower = Failure | 21 - 23 = 1 Star | 24 - 26 = 2 Star | 27 or Higher = Success
4 Star - 24 or Lower = Failure | 25 - 27 = 1 Star | 28 - 30 = 2 Star | 31 - 34 = 3 Star | 35 or Higher = Success
Creating your Meal as a down time activity requires a few things, use the example listed below to ensure you are submitting your cooking creation appropriately.
