NLTP NewsRoom Hub - GES vs. WTP (A)

GES was swept by Do the Wire off some last-minute heroics by SmallyBigs in the last half of the second game. This pushed them down to 1-3 and near the bottom of the standings. They actually went to 12th in the community power rankings as well.

For Weed the People, they swept the Cyclists off a last-second cap by anti-re in the last minute of G2H2, and moved up to 3-1 and first in the league. They also moved to first in the community power rankings.

It's the #1 team against the #12 team here, who will prevail?

Weed the People didn't really have any trouble sweeping GEH here, winning all four halves and getting a +10 cap differential at the end of it all. GEH did have some close halves, especially G1H2 and G2H1, but overall it was just WTP's day.

The WTP offense had another great week, with anti and Sir Cle combining for 16 caps, 873 hold, and both getting 90+ ONISHs. This is actually Sir Cle's best statistical performance out of all three weeks, so congrats to him there. For GEH, Ephew missed the first 20 minutes and breezy played in his stead. Breezy actually got three caps and 262 seconds of hold, which gave him the 90 ONISH. Then Ephew came in but didn't do that great, with just one cap and 168 hold for a 35 ONISH. noice was in the middle of the two with five caps and 310 hold for a 65 ONISH. In the end, the GEH offenders combined for nine caps and 740 hold, so even three offenders couldn't collectively do better than the two WTP offenders.

Homie led the week in returns and tags again, which makes this the third week in a row, while also getting the 10 DGASP and 100 DNISH for the third straight week in a row. He came second in prevent this week as well, with 724 seconds. His D partner, WRIG, had the 50 DNISH, with a Ralph Wiggum-type stat line of 477 prevent and 27 returns. The two GEH defenders were decent, with Makin getting the 79 DNISH with 411 prevent and 52 returns, and Trituin snagging the 71 DNISH with 414 prevent and 49 returns. A cool tidbit is that if you add Homie and WRIG's DNISHs together, they are the same as Makin and Trit's DNISHs added together. That doesn't really mean anything but I thought it was cool.

The stats definitely paint a picture of WTP dominating both sides of the field. GEH came last in 9/26 stats this week, while WTP ranked first in 7/26 stats, so there's definitely a lot of disparity going on here. Let's just focus on defense first. GEH had 10 more returns than WTP, and that's the only category that GEH had the advantage in. Despite GEH having more returns than WTP, they ended up having 23 less NRTs than WTP. WTP led the week in KD with 1.67, while GEH came dead last in KD. WTP came 3rd in prevent, while GEH ranked 11th, which meant that WTP's P/HA and P/R numbers were way better than WTP as well. GEH's 0.168 P/HA is actually the lowest P/HA number I've seen all season, while their 5.63 P/R ratio is also the worst I've seen all season. WTP meanwhile ranked 2nd and 1st in those stats this week. WTP got 26 more pups, had 262 less seconds of hold against, and also had 27 less NDPs. Looking at RIB% and QR%, it's pretty obvious that GEH struggled here as well, placing 12th and 10th in those stats, while WTP came 6th in both. Overall, just not great defense from GEH.

The offensive stats don't look good for GEH either. They had half as many caps and 262 fewer seconds of hold. WTP led the week in Score rate and H/G. with a 12.75% Score% and 8.56 seconds of hold per grab, while GEH placed 10th in both of those categories with a 6.00% Score% and 6.696 seconds of hold per grab. The F/G ratios weren't that different, only off by 0.03, but WTP had 15 more good handoffs than GEH, whose 23 GHOs were dead last this week as well. GEH was last in grabs this week too, with WTP having 21 more grabs. GEH's Chain% was dead last at 57.9%, which is understandable since they had the least amount of good handoffs this week, and their Spark% was pretty average at 58.67%. Just not great offense from GEH either.

Homie has been dominating on defense for the entire season. Coming 1st in returns and tags while also placing 2nd in prevent for the week means that he gets another card. He will continue to keep getting cards if he keeps leading in returns and tags every week. That's an Activ. guarantee.

CONCLUSION

A deplorable effort from GEH sees them getting swept and falling to 1-5, which is definitely not ideal for their playoff hopes. Their defense struggled immensely this week, but that could be attributed to playing a solid offense. The same goes for the GEH offense, playing against a solid WTP defense. For WTP they moved up to 5-1 and are tied with the Master Boaters for first in the standings. If Homie and anti-re keep playing at the level that they're playing at, then this team has a significant chance to make the Nuperball. If teams want to be able to compete with this team, they need to try and nullify anti and Homie and make Sir Cle and WRIG beat them.
