CYC won two games against WTP to bring their record up to 4-2. Their 2-1 series win against BCC put them on the map, and this 2-1 series win against WTP reinforced the fact that they are very solid B-Team.
LST went 2-1 against INC in three very close games last week, which put their record at 5-1 and at the top of the standings. I do think that playing DOW in their first week inflated their stats and standing, so I'll be looking at this week as LST's real test to show me that they are for real.
CYC won two games quite easily and LST won the middle game in order to make this series 2-1 in favor of CYC. LST did play decently well against a strong B-Team, but I do think that they are more of a middle of the pack team, and this kind of confirmed it for me. They can't hang with the top B-Teams.
All three CYC offenders had ONISHs over 80, which is great. naga led the trio with seven caps, 578 hold, and a 96.1 ONISH. korso followed closely behind with 353 hold, five caps, and the 92.1 ONISH. Finally, Overkill had 528 hold, four caps, and the 82.9 ONISH. These three offenders had the top three ONISHs from this match, with LST's best ONISH coming from flaccid trip with a 68.4 ONISH. That's a huge disparity and really shows how well CYC's offense played. Bert and Borgus had the most caps for LST with four, while flaccid trip had the most hold for LST with 494 hold, still less than two of CYC's offenders. bibo had a very difficult week, with 162 hold and 0 caps, but he didn't play that many minutes so that's fine.
On defense, you have three CYC defenders taking the top three DNISHs in this match. fanseman has the 94.7 DNISH with 207 prevent and 10 returns, but he did only play 10 minutes. Then wallsquirrel had 244 prevent, 22 returns, and the 88.2 DNISH, and Sanitence had 433 prevent and 48 returns, leading the CYC defense. He also had the 80.3 DNISH, which is pretty impressive since he's a Euro on like 100+ ping. rena brings up the last of the CYC defenders, with 373 prevent, 45 returns, and the 65.8 DNISH, so a down week for her but still solid regardless. For LST, Prime had the highest DNISh with a 76.3 DNISH, while also leading the defense in prevent and returns, with 476 prevent and 45 returns. Bert also played defense and had 391 prevent and 42 returns for the 61.8 DNISH, while Skitter had 458 prevent and 35 returns for the 57.9 DNISH. You can really see that the CYC squad had the edge in both offense and defense.
The prevent numbers are pretty similar for both defenses, separated by just 16 seconds in favor of CYC, but the returns and tags are skewed heavily in favor of CYC. CYC had 40 more tags than LST, ranking 4th for the week, and also had 25 more returns than LST, ranking 3rd there. For example, LST ranked 11th in tags and 7th in returns. Due to that, LST had the least amount of NRTs, but CYC actually didn't do much better, with just 44 NRTs coming in 11th, so both teams were literally the worst and second-worst there. LST had a 0.86 KD, which was also dead last for the week, while CYC had the best KD at 1.27, and that's the biggest difference I've seen. Despite the returns and tags disparities, LST actually had five more quick returns and five more RIBs. Their RIB% is the second highest for the week at 33.12%, while their QR% is also the second highest for the week at 30.95%, while CYC ranked 7th and 6th respectively. CYC did have double the amount of key returns LST had though, with 10 compared to 5. Looking at the defensive stats, you can't really tell who had the advantage here, because the prevent numbers are similar, but the RIB% and QR% numbers skew favorably to LST, and at the same time CYC had an amazing KD and got way more tags and returns.
On offense you can see that both teams were very holdy, with CYC actually having the most hold for the week, while LST came 4th. CYC also had 32 less pops than LST, so that's nice. CYC had a 10.75% Score rate, which ranked 4th, while LST's 6.67 Score% was 9th this week. But CYC had the highest F/G ratio of the week, with 0.3329, so that means that every 10 grabs, CYC had 3.3 flaccids. Meanwhile, LST had the fourth-lowest F/G ratio, at just 0.2250, meaning that LST every 10 grabs averaged one less flaccid. LST also had four more good handoffs and two more long holds than CYC. For Chain% and Spark%, CYC led the week with a 79.63% chain rate, which is amazing. Meanwhile, LST had the worst Spark% in the league with a 43.06%. Offense-wise, CYC had more hold but more flaccids despite having less grabs than LST, but CYC's Chain% more than made up for that lackluster F/G ratio.
My POTM goes to Sanitence, and it's because he had a solid DNISH and he also contributed four caps and 175 hold while on defense. Now you might be thinking why doesn't any of the offenders get any praise, they were the reason why CYC did so well? You might be right, but honestly what really pushed me over the edge here is that Sani is a Euro, and I like him. So take that.
CONCLUSION
With these two wins, CYC jump up to 6-3, continuing their trend of winning the series 2-1 each week. With wins against BCC, LST, and WTP under their belt, they're looking pretty great. For LST, their record doesn't exactly suffer, but now they're 6-3 as well, same as CYC, and I feel like they're trending a little downwards. INC and DOW aren't exactly the best B-Teams, and now when they're up against a solid one, they floundered a little. It doesn't mean that they're a bad team, but I think they're regressing to the mean a little.
