BAP went up against INC last week and swept them, putting them second in the standings. UNIT-01 has been great as a lead defender so far, which bodes well for this team's future.
BCC lost two of three against CYC, but I won't hold that against them because CYC is a strong B-Team. Button and KahnMan are great supporting players for Tinder and Blob, and I'm still confident in their potential.
Will BAP get another sweep, or will BCC win the series this week?
A very close G1 went to BCC, then BAP took G2 by two caps, and then in G3 it was close after G3H1, but then BCC capped nine times in G3H2 and took over that third game and won it, taking the series in the process. BAP managed to only win one half yet still win a game, which is pretty impressive. I don't have a specific word for that situation, but I'm going to come up with one and use it way too much.
aerrow came back for BAP so the Randy / aerrow dream offensive pairing was happening, but they didn't really do that well. Randy got the 65.4 ONISH, aerrow got the 46.2 ONISH, and they combined for just 553 hold and six caps. In fact the best offender from BAP was big brother, with 406 hold and four caps, proving that last week wasn't just a fluke and that he's improved immensely from last season. Tinderfella and Button for BCC were the better offensive pairing for sure, with Tinder getting the 96.2 ONISH, Butto having the 83.3 ONISH, and both combining for 874 hold and 13 caps. Omnivore was a solid third offender, with 318 hold, two caps, and a 35.9 ONISH. The BCC offense had a definite advantage here.
For defense, UNIT-01 had another solid week, with the 91 DNISH, 600 prevent, and 48 returns, leading his defense. JH13 was also decent in support with the 75.6 DNISH, 454 prevent, and 46 returns. Sorry l suck was meh with a 50 DNISH, 148 prevent, and 16 returns, but to be fair he only played 20 minutes. For the BCC defense, Blob and KahnMan were very solid, with KahnMan getting a 94.9 DNISH, Blob having a 79.5 DNISH, and combining for 1434 prevent and 85 returns. I think both defenses actually had solid performances, with the exception of BAP in G3H2.
BCC again ends the week with a low amount of returns and tags but a decent amount of prevent. We saw this against CYC in Week 1 and we see it here as well. BCC also didn't give up a whole lot of hold and had a small HA number, just like last week. They did really improve in good handoffs this week, with 51 GHO and a 72.55% chain rate, compared to 30 GHO and 51.25% chain rate last week. Meanwhile BAP had fewer pops than BCC and their F/G ratio led the week, just like last week. BAP had great KD, NRT, and NDP numbers while BCC was near the bottom of the league in all three metrics, while they were also dead last in QR and RIBs. However when it came to RIB% and QR%, BCC had a higher RIB% than BAP by 2%, and BAP had a higher QR% by 2%.
The other main differences I see between the two teams was the Score%, P/HA, H/G, KR, and P/R. BCC's score rate was 13%, while BAP's score rate was 7.33%, almost half of BCC. For H/G, BCC was near the top this week with a 7.534, while BAP was near the bottom with 6.887 seconds. For KR, BAP only had six, while BCC had ten, a 66% increase. And finally, BAP was dead last in P/R with 8.04 seconds per return, while BCC was fourth with 11.70 seconds per return. You can see the different playstyles in the two teams, and you can also see why certain maps could suit a team better than the other one. But in the end, the score% and P/HA were two main reasons why BCC took the series, in my opinion.
Man it's been so long since I've seen Button in action, but he's still got it, and he had a pretty complete performance here. He had five caps and 394 hold for an 83.3 ONISH, but he definitely did more. He also had 391 prevent and 31 returns, while also leading the team in key returns with three. To top it all off, he also had the most NRTags, the least NDPops, and the most pups with an 18.06 pup%. He did everything, and he did everything well.
CONCLUSION
BCC takes two games out of three and wins the series, which moves them up to 3-3 and 7th in the standings. Meanwhile, BAP with their one win moves up to 4-2 and drops to 5th in the standings, after ending Week 1 in 2nd. The five-player BCC roster has really started coming into its own and should continue to improve, meanwhile BAP's starters seem to be improving as well. I like the offensive trio that BAP has with aerrow, Randy, and big brother, while UNIT-01 seems to be holding up as the lead defender. If BAP could maybe focus more on prevent, then I can see this team really excelling.
