NLTP NewsRoom Hub - BAP vs. MIA (B)

BAP won a game against BCC but lost the other two games and moved their record down to 4-2, which is still very respectable. That sweep of INC in W1 moved them up to 3-0, so they have some leeway in terms of wins.

MIA got swept by MB8 last week to move their record down to 2-4. MIA won the first half in every game, but they lost the lead in every second half, which must be very disappointing.

Will BAP be able to take care of these guys, or will MIA play like their W1 selves and get a couple of wins?

MIA won the first three halves of the series, then BAP won the next three halves, and in the end MIA won two games while BAP won the final game to make this series a 2-1 victory for the Ballphins. It was just like the GES - WTP game, where GES won the first game pretty handily, but then the next couple of halves saw WTP slowly crawl back and then win the third game handily.

For offense, you have J24gordon and astor continuing to be a top offensive duo, combining for 13 caps and 937 hold, while also averaging a 89.5 ONISH. J24gordon had 554 hold, which ranked third this week. astor's continued improvement as a player with each passing season has been amazing to watch, and he's finally blossomed into a strong two-way player, but even I didn't expect him to be this lethal on offense. For BAP, Randy showed up late, so for the first few halves you had big brother and aerrow taking the offensive duties, and they combined for eight caps and 817 hold, so less production than the MIA duo. When Randy showed up he took control of the game, with 334 hold, four caps, and the 88.2 ONISH. Mueller played both defense and offense this week, and he had four caps and the 71.1 ONISH, while JH13 also played both positions, with a 53.9 ONISH and four caps. IcePlat had 434 hold but one cap, while Sorry l suck had 240 hold and one cap as well.

For defense, llamatron and Mueller and GospelofJuke took care of business for the most part. Both Mueller and Gospel had more than 600 seconds of prevent, and llamatron had 46 returns. The MIA defense combined for 117 returns and 1756 prevent, and averaged a 77.6 DNISH, with llamatron leading the pack wiht a 82.9 DNISH. For BAP, JH13 was their best defender with a 77.6 DNISH, while UNIT-01 had a down week, with just a 68.4 DNISH. The Miami defense really stepped up this week, after a deplorable W2, and kept the high flying BAP offense at bay.

MIA had 820 more seconds of prevent than BAP, with BAP coming dead last in prevent and MIA leading the week in it. That sets up huge P/HA and P/R numbers for MIA and very low numbers for BAP. MIA led the week in P/HA and P/R, while BAP came 11th in P/HA and 10th in P/R. BAP also came dead last in pups with 65, while MIA led the week with 91 pups, which is 26 more pups than BAP had. Despite the massive prevent advantage, BAP and MIA had about the same amount of returns and tags. MIA did have 18 more NRTs, 12 more QRs, 5 more KRs, and 17 more RIBs than BAP though. BAP ranked 9th, 12th, 10th, and 12th, in those respective stats, while MIA was pretty average in those stats except for a 2nd place finish in NRTs and 3rd place finish in KRs. BAP also had the worst RIB% at 19.16%, and the second-worst QR% at 20.71%. MIA ranked 5th in both stats. The Ballphins defense really outshone the BAP defense here.

On offense, MIA had almost 300 more seconds of hold than BAP, but the per-minute stats are pretty similar except for F/G and GHO. Both teams had the exact same Score% at 10%, but MIA had the second-lowest F/G ratio for the week at 0.1866 and the third most good handoffs at 65. BAP ranked 7th in F/G with a respectable 0.2487, but came 11th in good handoffs with 44, which was 21 fewer GHO than MIA. MIA had four more long holds and 34 more grabs than BAP. For Chain% and Spark%, both teams were pretty below average in both stats, so that doesn't warrant mentioning here. For the most part, the MIA offense got out of base more and also didn't flaccid nearly as much as BAP.

I think I have to give credit to astor after having a couple of very solid weeks for the Ballphins. This week he had six caps, 383 hold, and also 31 returns. I love the two-way ability of the guy, and he feasted on this BAP defense this week. Kudos to him.

While astor was killing it on offense and defense for MIA, JH13 was killing it on defense and offense for BAP. There's a reason I included both his O and D stats on the GASP/NISH boards. He had four caps, 415 prevent, and 50 returns, all of which were near the top of his team. The last three halves showcased his talent, as he was at the top of the scoreboard for all of them. He is a big reason why BAP rebounded the way they did.

CONCLUSION

Miami Ballphins take the 2-1 series win and move their record up to 4-5, which is near the middle of the standings. MIA is a solid team when it wants to be, but they can be so inconsistent. They can play up to better opponents, or play down to lesser opponents, kind of like the Pittsburgh Steelers. I wonder how they're going to do against DOW next week. For BAP, they were down Randy for like two games and struggled to keep up, and then when he showed up they started doing well. This team isn't bad by any means, but I'm still a little iffy on that defense. UNIT and JH did still struggle the first three halves. It could just be a phase, but it's still troubling.
