This offense is just....not good. None of these offenders really stand out to me, but if I had to pick one player who I think could lead the offense, it would have to be SmallyBigs. I think comms-wise, and just experience wise, Smally is the best option to lead the offense, because he knows how to play the game. GnasStrafDel's rookie season wasn't bad, with a 72 ONISH last season, but I don't think he has the game awareness yet. He definitely is the best offender here with regards to mechanics though, but he can't really lead this offense. Choko is very green, and the only thing I can really say is that I hope he gets better by the end of the season. Oink Oink can either play offense or defense, but he's more of a reserve player.
The defense is stronger than the offense, but that isn't really a high bar to clear here. Trapsin is a solid defender, but I've usually thought of him as a supporting partner, with a more aggressive defender beside him, like a llamatron or a fortytwo. I don't think he can really lead a defense, but he's going to have to this season. His partner is bombsquad, who is decent two-way ball. Having two prevent-oriented defenders could spell trouble if enemy FCs get out of base, which is what I'm really having an issue with. I'd feel like Trapsin and bombsquad would be solid second and third defenders on a team, but now they're the starting defense, which doesn't bode well for me. Thanos Ball is fine as a backup defender, and Corinth gets juked way too much for my liking to be considered a part of the starting rotation.
It's not like this team isn't bad in terms of mechanics. I mean, I do think they're below-average in that area but just going off of mechanics this team isn't as bad as it looks. It's just the majority of this team as a whole just is lacking in game awareness. Smally, Trapsin, and bombsquad are like the only three players who I'd trust to know what's going on. Everyone else on this team is just inexperience or just raw to competitive, so they haven't really focused on that aspect of their game yet. Do I think this team will see some improvement near the end of the season? Maybe, but I don't think they'll see a lot of success in the early weeks, and I think the majority of the league agrees with me going off their power rankings.
