Leaderboards

Congrats to kool aid and Homie for basically dominating the leaderboards, with kool aid leading the league in hold and caps, and Homie leading in tags and returns. Maradona took the prevent title this week, while D4NK got the most pups, but his team was only average in that category. As a result of kool aid and Homie leading in two categories, they also swept the GASP/NISH leaderboards, so that's nice.

Team Stats

It took me a while to do, but I did team stats for A-Team. I like how these turned out, and it can maybe help us analyze the performances of the teams this week. For example, we see that MB8 had 42 good handoffs, which was the most this week. Couple that with a 9.25% score rate, and it makes sense how MB8 also got the most caps this week at 21.

That F/G stat might look new, but it just means flaccids per grabs, which can be a decent metric to evaluate how smart your offense is. A high F/G rate means that you're very flaccidy, as evidenced by the NIPs having 0.3352. That means that for every 10 grabs NIP had, they flaccided approximately 3.3 times. You can also maybe say that having a ton of flaccids could be the result of poor OD, because if you're forced into a grab on OD it's most likely going to be a flaccid.

Because this is just one week, it's hard to really say which stats are the real determinants of success, but I plan on doing this every week, so I'll be able to increase the sample size. You can also use these team stats to compare between the teams. Also starting next week I'll take a deeper dive into these team stats and actually talk about them and maybe compare them to the previous week.

Best / Worst TOTW

That says Best / Worst Team of the Week, if you've never played FIFA or any other EA sports game. For the Best Team of the Week, I'd have to go with the Master Boaters, who were playing against a weakened NIP, but they still had to execute, and they did that in spades. The Worst Team of the Week for me was Do The Wire, because there's no excuse to have a 3.75% score rate with the offense that you have. At least the NIPs were missing starters, DTW was just not good.

Leaderboards

I don't think anyone was really surprised with this, but it's still impressive. All of the players on my leaderboards came from one team, and that was Legends of the Splittin Temple. You have flaccid lead the week in hold with a whopping 857 seconds, almost 15 whole minutes. Jarek led the week with 14 caps, BertAndBort led in tags and returns, and Skitter had a huge amount of prevent to take the prevent title this week with 1065. It also makes sense that flaccid got the best offensive and total GASPs and NISHs, while Bert swept the defensive stats. Good job to LST for a huge first week.

Team Stats

I added in parentheses the number of players that each team had, so you can realistically compare teams. Like, DTW with eight players still managed to have the least prevent this week, while BCC with just five members came 4th in total prevent.

Another thing to note is that due to the normalization of stats to 40 minutes, some team stats may be different. That will happen whenever there's players that play more than 40 minutes, so any team that has less than six players showing up will have this issue. You can see clearly with the cap numbers, with BAP having only 21 caps instead of 24 caps, because Randy and Big Brother had more than 40 minutes. In order to be consistent, I'll only be taking the TPL stats after normalization, so even if some team stats are off, they'll be consistently off, if that makes sense.

The final thing is that rotating lineups make team stats a somewhat murky metric to measure a team by. The final game is sometimes a complete 180 from the first two games, as weaker lineups are put in. The issue with that is sometimes the stats get skewed a little too much. BCC's third game was a 13-1 victory, after losing the first two games by a total of three caps. MB8 had a 12-2 win in the last game after losing the first two by a total of nine caps. These third games skew the stats and makes it seem closer than it really is, and I don't really know how to fix that.

Best / Worst TOTW

It seems obvious what the answers for both these questions are, as LST had an insane performance, and DTW ended up on the wrong side of that, so excluding those teams, who were the Best TOTW and Worst TOTW? For my Best TOTW, I'm taking the Miami Ballphins, who had a pretty complete series, despite losing a game in the middle. Good prevent, good hold, third in pups, great score rate, second in H/G, and second in good handoffs is pretty evident of a complete team performance. For the Worst TOTW, I will take the Master Boaters. Third game nonwithstanding, MB8 was dead last in tags and returns, near the bottom in hold, had a pretty high pop count, got the least amount of pups. When you let a team get 26 more pups than you, that's really a recipe for failure.
