Another year gone and 2025 saw us continue in much the same vein as 2024. We're not just a breakfast club but like to get out and about. We're still all about living as well as you can, experiencing new things, learning new stuff, meeting new people and hopefully, making friends as we go.
As last year, our membership numbers have stayed pretty much the same again - a few losses and a few gains.
We're still based in Neilston Bowling Club (but still haven't been bowling) - so some stability after a few turbulent years.
So, what have we done in our third year?
We again successfully applied for and received community funding from several sources.
We visited four historical sites or museums, three country parks, two musical art exhibitions, attended two rock concerts, had a day at the seaside, watched a gun dog test, and had a cruise on Loch Lomond.
We travelled a fair bit again, not quite as much as last year but still over 700 miles, visiting such places as Balloch, Barrhead, Carlisle, Dumfries, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Largs, and Lochwinnoch.
In-house, we had a fair few full breakfasts, a Burns Lunch, three joint musical social events with the Neilston Golden Girls, and we finished off the year with another excellent Christmas Lunch in Neilston Bowling Club.
We also created our own Facebook Page and YouTube Channel and we're still adding to our Help section on the web site.
All of our activities and visits for 2025 are listed and documented here so here are a few images taken from those...
We'd like to thank everyone that's supported us this year - Neilston Windfarm Legacy, Neilston Community Council, Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire, and all of the Neilston residents that dropped a token into our box at the Neilston Participatory Budgeting event.
We'd also like to thank the following members:
Raymond Kerr for organizing almost everything, attending funding meetings, and badgering sponsors for money
Our secretary and treasurer - Steve Pettigrew and Stewart Campbell
John Mclean for cooking some very tasty breakfasts and the various kitchen assistants he managed to rope in, including all the dish washers
Robert Elliot for "driving" the new, improved vacuum cleaner (Henry got usurped)
Apologies if I've missed anyone.
