This year, partly to foster a bit more social interaction and also to save on costs, the combined ladies and men's groups (Neilston Golden Girls and Neilston Men's Group) laid on a Christmas lunch and live entertainment in Neilston Bowling Club for all of our members.
The lunch was an excellent buffet with chicken wings, chicken strips and dips, haggis and black pudding bon-bons, mini-Scotch pies, sausage rolls and loads of sandwiches. Tea, coffee, orange juice and mince pies finished us off nicely.
For entertainments, we had a cabaret singer called Robyn Brooks. Robyn has entertained the Neilston Golden Girls before and went down very well so we're glad we managed to get her again so close to Christmas.
We also had the Dancing Feet Ceilidh Band from Kirriemuir keeping the ladies and gents going with stomping songs and music. Some even got up to dance.
Robyn Brooks went down very well with our older members and Roddy and Kate from the ceilidh band kept everyone well entertained.
Many thanks to Raymond and his wife Susan for organizing the do and also to the ladies that donned the red pinnies and set out the buffet.
Thanks also to Neilston Bowling Club for the use of their premises for this and our weekly meetings.
I think we all had an enjoyable afternoon, which was a good start to the festive season, and we'll all be back again next year.
In the meantime, here are a couple of short videos of some of us (not a lot) dancing...
