In what seems to be turning into a tradition after our third full year, we again joined up with Neilston Golden Girls for our Christmas Lunch in Neilston Bowling Club. Lunch was followed by some musical entertainment from Simon Sims, who some might remember entertained us after one of our joint social events and our 2023 Christmas Lunch.
I tried to do a head count and I think there were about 40 of us all told once everyone had arrived. Here are a few photos of the them all (minus some latecomers) enjoying lunch:
We all enjoyed a roast turkey dinner with all the usual trimmings followed by chocolate cake and cream along with crackers and lots of banter. Many thanks to Raymond, Susan, Grace and their many helpers for organizing the food and the kitchen.
After lunch was over, the tables were cleared away and Simon again gave us a good bit over an hour of entertainment, which everyone enjoyed and featuring a range of genres including country, Motown, gospel, reggae, and pop as well as traditional classics from the 50s and 60s. Some of the ladies even got up to dance but sadly not one of us gentlemen opted to get up and join in. Maybe next time.
Here are some more photos taken on the day:
Well, that's all for 2025 folks. Many thanks to Raymond and the committee (Steve, Jim and Stewart) for organizing things again this year, to chef John for his tasty breakfasts, Robert for his hoovering skills and all the guys who regularly pitched in did the washing up. Also thanks to everyone else that's supported us over the past years.
We'll be back with some more outings, events and other shenanigans in 2026. We'll post a round-up of our activities for 2025 as soon as we can so Merry Christmas 🎄 and all the best for 2026 to everyone.
Many thanks to Neilston Bowling Club for the use of the facilities over the last year. If you're interested in bowling, then you'll find information on Neilston Bowling Club on their Facebook page:
