Nineteen of us had a quick breakfast in Neilston Bowling Club, then, since the weather was very nice indeed, sixteen visited Rouken Glen Park for a walk in the outdoors, followed by a wee visit to the garden centre café.
There are quite a few walks you can do in the park but, with most of us being a bit on the mature side of super-fit, we opted for a gentle stroll round to the waterfall and back.
The park wasn't too busy on the walk round, even though the car park was almost full, as I think most folk were either at the garden centre or up at the pond.
On our way round, we stopped at what looked like opened up lime kilns but it's apparently an artwork by dry stone wall artist David F. Wilson as part of a cycle way in the park. You can see more details of it here:
After that we finally got to the waterfall over the Auldhouse Burn. It's not huge by an standards but provided a nice backdrop for another group photo before we headed back towards the café for a well-earned coffee/tea and a bun.
Once voted UK's Best Park at the Fields in Trust annual awards and has been awarded Green Flag status, Rouken Glen Park is worth a visit - there's quite a few walks and plenty of wildlife to see (if you're quiet). You can find out more about the park and it's history, etc. here:
