The weather was still being reasonably kind to us so, rather that sit inside having our usual hot breakfast roll, we decided to go to Pollok Country Park for a bit of a stroll around the grounds, after which we'd head to The Rest for a light lunch.
We've got a pretty mixed level of fitness in the group so it was never going to be the four to five mile circular described on lots of walking sites. I think we might have managed about a mile and a half but it still good to get outside and among the trees for a bit.
We had a wander along the forest path and up to the old pond, where there were a few ducks, and then back down again.
Here are a couple of short videos of us in the park...walking and talking as usual.
Just to wind up, everyone enjoyed the light lunch in The Rest once we got back to Neilston. It was good to see it in use again as it lay derelict for ages after a fire the destroyed its earlier life as the Traveller's Rest.
If you fancy a visit to Pollok Country Park, then you'll find all the information you need on their web site:
You'll find a fair bit of background information and history about it here:

As for The Rest, it doesn't have a web site yet but you can see what it has to offer on Facebook and Instagram:
