Glasgow Science Centre

After a breakfast at Crofthead Bowling Club, 13 of us headed into the city to visit the Glasgow Science Centre at Pacific Quay on a very rainy day. The fairly distinctive, titanium-clad building, opened in July 2001 by Queen Elizabeth II, houses three floors of over 250, mostly-interactive science-learning exhibits.

Playtime!

It being a weekday, the place was awash with what appeared to be school outings so there were hundreds of small children doing what small children that are allowed to touch and play with the exhibits will do - having a lot of fun.

Wee boy with a big gun - John, "interacting" with a air cannon.

Our group also had some fun winding, pulling, pushing, bashing and clattering about as well. We were only in for an hour but I'm sure we could have easily spent another one or two hours going round all the exhibits. It's definitely somewhere to take your kids or grandkids or they could take you.

I wonder if that guy in the turban will ever come back down?

We ended our visit with some very welcome tea/coffee and a natter in the IMAX café (the main café was closed). Maybe we'll get back one day.

Says it all really!

If you fancy a visit to the Glasgow Science Centre, then you'll find all the information you need on their web site:

Maybe someday we'll get up that Glasgow Tower, which was sadly closed for refurbishment again:
